Penn State Abington Event called “This is My Brave” on October 12, 2023. This showcases performances by those who have experienced stigma (for example, substance use issues, mental health conditions, human trafficking, domestic violence, being part of a marginalized group, among others), and who would be willing to share their story to help reduce stigma!
We need your help! If you or anyone you know would be willing to share your experience, we are having auditions for those interested on August 10, 1-7; August 23, 12:30-3:30; and August 26 10am – 1pm.
See this flyer for more details or go to this link: abington.psu.edu/timb-audition
Auditions are open to adults aged 18+, including Penn State students, faculty and staff, and any community member! If selected, you will share your story during This Is My Brave – The Show, on stage this fall on October 12 at Penn State Abington.
Performers are expected to participate in 3 rehearsals, one cast party, and a run through before the show, all to occur in September through October. Performers will receive an honorarium of $250 once the show concludes.
For your audition, you should prepare a 5 minute performance piece that demonstrates your experience with stigma. This can be a monologue (a speech sharing your experience), poetry, a song, dance performance, or other artistic expression – we encourage creativity! Your audition will be reviewed by the organizing committee. We are honored by anyone willing to share their experience, but due to time limitations we will select only 10 performers for our show.
