Julia Laskorunsky

Biography:
Julia Laskorunsky is a graduate of the Criminology doctoral program at Penn State University. Her dissertation, “The Color of Risk: Unpacking the Implications of Actuarial Risk Prediction at Sentencing,” focused on comparing actuarial and clinical risk prediction at the sentencing stage in relation to racial disproportionality. She worked for the Justice Center for Research since 2011. Julia’s main research interests are in the areas of sentencing and corrections, with a particular focus on risk analysis. She has worked on grants for the National Institute of Justice, the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing.
Julia received her B.A. in Sociology from UC Berkeley and her M.A. from Penn State University. Prior to coming to Penn State, Julia worked as a Deputy Project Director and Research Assistant for Development Services Group, Inc., in Bethesda, Maryland.
Julia is currently a Research Fellow at The Robina Institute of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice at the University of Minnesota Law School.
