This Friday (April 22 from noon to 1) Professor Hyungkwan Park of Gachon University (South Korea) will be giving a presentation at the Commission’s State College office (204 East Calder Way, Suite 400 ). Professor Park is currently a visiting faculty member at the Charles Widger (Villanova) School of Law, a former chief prosecutor in Korea, and has been actively involved in developing sentencing guidelines for South Korea. His presentation, “One Step Further Towards the Goal of Sentencing Reform: South Korean Sentencing Guidelines Development and Its Evaluation” will focus on the development of the Korean Sentencing Commission and sentencing guidelines, how the guidelines work, how they are applied and inform sentencing decisions, and areas for reform and improvement.
